About the Artist
This page is about me, apparently, so uh... I'm a mostly digital artist who lives in British Columbia, Canada, and has been digitally arting since some time in late 2003 and started out mainly only using things like a mouse, oekaki software, and some program called "Photo Studio" which came bundled with my scanner, I think. I wouldn't recommend that software though; it was just uh... all I really had access to until I got Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and my Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. Other than those things, I occasionally like to use watercolour paints or Painter, though I only actually have the "Essentials 2" version of it that came bundled with my tablet and that seems to be too old to run reliably on Windows Vista, unfortunately.Apparently I like to draw dragons and birdish things, but also enjoy inventing my own creature designs and also like to draw fantastical environments and trees and things. Skies and clouds also seem to be a fascination of mine, so they appear often in my artwork.
Other than drawing, I also like doing website programming stuff and have knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and PHP. I do quite enjoy using PHP, which is why there are forums and comment systems and so on on the website and all the pages end with ".php"! I just like coding things! I also have some knowledge of ActionScript (that scripting language thing Flash uses), but most of the things I've made with it aren't available on this website to view since they're either unrefined ideas or things that will never be finished. I've also composed music and tend to do that on occasion, and though I've started composing many things, I've finished few, which is why the music secion of the site is rarely updated. I also occasionally like to try animating things just for the sake of it, but that doesn't happen very often because animating is a lot of work and can be very frustrating!
So yes! That is some information about me as an artist! It also says nothing there about me being female either, so uh... "I am female". Just to avoid confusion.About the Site

Sabre's Sanctum first existed in 2003 as a free Geocities website which acted as a gallery for my artwork. That eventually ran out of space and became a combination of a Geocities website and a Freewebs website! Back then, the website had a white-text-on-black-backgrounds sort of theme. On the 20th of June, 2004, I bought the domain name "sabressanctum.com" (though apparently the website wasn't fully coded and ready to be publicly viewed until the 22nd!) and eventually ended up with a layout that was red and yellow, which was horribly gaudy, but I thought it looked good because I didn't know any better. Then I changed the theme entirely to the current pastel-yellow on teal, which looks much better! And this site is still basically just a place for me to stick my creations for people to see and also to give me an ongoing project to work on (the website and its design, code, and tutorials and so on).
Sabre's Sanctum was named after Sabredragogashi, which was my online persona thing for a short while before I started using "Firequill" everywhere, so now the website's name doesn't actually make a lot of sense.
Even though the website was first created as a place to display my creations, what I'd really like is to also give help to other artists by making tutorials and providing resources for those who are just getting started. Another goal is to give artists a location to discuss and share art, knowledge, and ideas with others to help eachother improve.
It's always a good idea to check the site every now and then because as my skills improve and my knowledge grows, the tutorials continue to change and improve as well.
